GDPR guidance webinar for small businesses launching on May 4th
The Danish data protection authority, the Datatilsynet along with the Danish Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Danish Industry and SME Denmark are launching a guidance webinar on the GDPR for smaller companies. The webinar will take place on May 4th from 9:00 to 10:00. The webinar will constitute a 7-step program for smaller companies without the resources to properly translate and understand the terms of the GDPR into Danish. Read more
AEPD fine bank for unlawful processing of personal information
The Spanish data protection authority, the AEPD imposed a fine of €70,000 on Caixabank Payments & Consumer for violating the Article 6(1) of the GDPR after a customer made a complaint. The AEPD found that the bank violated the privacy law by continuing to process personal information despite efforts from the complainant to cancel the contract. Read more
2.5M fine imposed for delaying notice of data breach
Datatilsynet, the Danish data protection authority imposed a NOK 2.5 million (roughly €220,292) fine on Argon Medical Devices for delaying notifying Datatilsynet by 67 days of a cybersecurity incident which affected a Norwegian employee. Read more
Colorado Privacy Act Rules finalised
The state privacy regulation, the Colorado Privacy Act, CPA, has been finalised. The regulation will cover areas such as data protection impact assessments, universal opt-out mechanisms, transparency and more. The rules implement the CPA and will go into effect on the July 1st which is when the CPA takes effect. The rules provide clarification on the regulation requirements. Read more
FTC looks into cloud computing practices
With the intention of obtaining information on the impact that cloud computing has on competition and data security, the Federal Trade Commission are seeking information cloud computing. The FTC seeks to provide comments on a few topics including; the segments of the economy reliant on cloud services providers, the storage security available, incentives offered to customers and the types of products and services offered. Strangers’ conversations exposed in ChatGPT bug
Users of ChatGPT took to social media to post pictures of a bug that exposed the conversation that other people had on the service. This information was available under the chat history feature which is currently offline to fix the issue and restore the feature. Read more
